The Value of Right Meditation: 10/28/2015

10/29/2015

The Value of Right Meditation

One way to develop spiritual wisdom and understanding of
The Word is through meditation of the Word.

God told Joshua this fact at the very beginning of his ministry after the death of Moses.

Joshua 1:8
8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Or you will be able to deal wisely in the things of life).

Take time to meditate in the Word.

Shut yourself in alone where the clamor of the world is shut out.
If you are ambitious to do something worthwhile, take ten or fifteen minutes daily for meditation.
Learn to do it.

In other words, begin the development of your own spirit.

You have gone to school, or you are going to school, for the development of your intellect.
Some are taking physical training for the development of the muscles.

If you will, take time you can develop your memory.

You may develop any gift that you wish, but the most important gifts that God has given to you are the spiritual gifts. It is the development of the spirit that is going to mean
more to your life than any other one thing.

When Jesus went away He promised to send the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. NIV

There is coming, Jesus said, a Spirit that is going to recreate your spirit. This is the New Birth.

Then He said there was coming an infilling, a baptism, an empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

You are going to yield your spirit to the leading of the Holy Spirit through the Word.

He said that the Holy Spirit would come and guide us into all reality; not the reality of the intellect, but into the reality of spiritual things.

That is the reason we need to get quiet a little while. We need to be so quiet that the Holy Spirit may communicate with our spirit through the Word and unveil these truths to us.

It will make you a master. The great body of men do not meditate in the spirit. They live in the realm of the senses.

Their meditations are guided by the senses. The Sense-governed mind is limited.
Your spirit has practically no limitations.

You can develop your spirit life until you dominate circumstances.
Your spirit can come into vital union with His Spirit, the Father Himself.
Your spirit becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature.

It is not your intellect or your body, but your spirit that fellowships in the riches of
His gracious presence. Your spirit, with God's Nature in it, can
fellowship on terms of absolute equality with God Himself.
Do you see your limitless possibilities?

Jesus brings us into contact with spiritual things. Spiritual things are more real than
physical things because they are eternal.
Your spirit can reach the point where the things in His Word will become as real to you
as Jesus is real to you.

John 16:12-15

12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. NIV

He is to take the things of Jesus and the things of the Father and unveil them to us.
